This was an absolutely wonderful and uplifting spiritual experience for their opening night concert in San Diego. U2 connects with the audience better than any other performer or group. And the subtle political messages let us know of our responsibilities on this planet.
Thanks U2 for honoring ALL your fans with this innovative open set design. I was toward the back of the stage and the vantage views were awesome. That LCD light display was spectacular.
I was brought to tears with the closing number 40. Shivers went through my body as Bono left the stage, then Adam, then the Edge, leaving Larry on the drums; and eventhough the stage was empty, the audience continued chanting the chorus for several minutes. Truly awesome.
The only drawback was that "Bad" was not performed, but then again, with an expansive songlist spanning decades, it's tough to please all fans.
I'm taking my teenage son to the concert on Wednesday and we're looking forward to it.
