I cant say that I've was ever a big U2 fan; always felt they were a big 'preachy'. But I'd heard a lot of good things about the shows in the past so I figured it would be a nice anniversary gift for the missus.

The show starts up and I'll admit that they brought an impressive stage & sound. Not long into the show, Bono starts chatting with the crowd, telling a story of the Edge being from another planet AND from the future. I really dont give it much thought, although the guys have some depth, so you want to at least listen (even if you dont alway agree).

So Bono goes on to explain the meeting with the rest of the band, and that Larry asks 'So what's the future like?'. The Edge answers 'Better'.

Well there it is. I wasnt expecting it. I didnt even know I needed to hear it. I couldnt concentrate for a good 15 minutes. I finally got a flash of my kids as happy smiling men, instead of burning an ulser into my stomach wondering how they will survive a planet that seems bent on buring itself down. Now THAT is something I've never got from any other concert in my life (and I've been to a few).

I'll still reach for my Beatles CD before my U2 (yes, I have one), but I have to thank them for the relief, and a memory to pull out when I've read to much of the newspaper.

Thanks Boys. Carry On.
