Rumor: OneRepublic Opening for U2 in 2011

U2tours.com reader Josh M. emailed to let us know that OneRepublic have dropped a hint that they'll be opening for U2 during the 2011 U2 360 tour. Josh was at OneRepublic's concert in Toronto on July 15th. Here's his short account of what happened:

"As the band were finishing their set, lead singer Ryan Tedder thanked everyone for coming and said how much they love Toronto. He then said that they will be back to Toronto next summer when they open for U2."

That obviously doesn't make it official, but it sounds like a strong rumor. U2 had several opening acts scheduled for the now-postponed dates this summer across North America. (And they have different opening acts for the current European tour.) We obviously don't know if OneRepublic would be the sole opening act, or one of many during next year's tour.
