U2 360 Tour News

Much was made of the affordability of tickets to U2's Auckland's show when it was announced last month, but what wasn't made clear was that fans would be lumped with an online surcharge of almost $20 per transaction.

It's mid-afternoon Friday in Australia and New Zealand, and public ticket sales for the 4th leg of the U2 360 tour began about six hours ago. U2/Live Nation has reserved extra dates in each of the five cities they're playing, but so far only one additional show has been announced: December 19 in Perth. Tickets for that show are already on sale via Ticketmaster Australia.

Music promoters are facing up to the realities of bringing international stars to Moscow, after much-hyped supergroup U2 became the latest top act to fail to sell out the city's Luzhniki Stadium.

U2place.com reports that some of U2's crew have told fans in Vienna that the U2 360 tour will finish in 2011 with concerts in Paris, England, Belfast, and possibly a new venue in Dublin (not Croke Park). The crew also said U2 will have a new album out later this year.

It had seemed like a relationship that was destined to be long and even meaningful, but now it appears to have gone wrong very quickly.

MOSCOW - Rights group Amnesty said five of its activists were detained while distributing flyers at a U2 concert in Moscow on Wednesday, which ended with a celebrated Kremlin critic joining the Irish rock stars on stage.

The two concerts in the Olympic Stadium on Friday and Saturday by Irish mega-band U2 each attracted a capacity crowd of 53,000 to the venue, and in so doing set a new Finnish attendance record.

U2 has announced that rap star Jay-Z will be the opening act for all of the band's dates later this year in Australia and New Zealand. They've collaborated together before: Jay-Z joined U2 on stage for "Sunday Bloody Sunday" when the band performed in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin on November 5, 2009. In this new video (posted by tour promoter Michael Coppel Presents), Bono says U2 has some "interesting ideas" to "do something special" with Jay-Z.
