Venue: Madison Square Garden
Opening Act(s): Patti Smith
Main Set: City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, Elevation, The Electric Co. - Send in the Clowns, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - In a Little While, Beautiful Day, Original of the Species, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, Love and Peace or Else, Sunday Bloody Sunday - Rock the Casbah, Bullet the Blue Sky, Miss Sarajevo, Pride, Where the Streets Have No Name, One, MLK
Encore(s): Until the End of the World, Mysterious Ways, With or Without You, Stuck In a Moment You Can't Get Out Of, Instant Karma
Comments: MLK is dedicated to John F. Kennedy, who died 42 years ago to the day. Bono brings a young girl on stage during Mysterious Ways and gives her a piggy-back ride. Stuck In a Moment is dedicated to Michael Hutchence on the 8th anniversary of his death. Patti Smith joins the band for Instant Karma again tonight, but the concert comes to an abrupt end at the end of the song. Bono leads Smith off-stage, Edge follows while still playing the song, then Adam leaves. They come back out and sing another chorus before everyone leaves again. The lights come on and the show is over, even though two more songs are on the printed setlist. Some fans at the show say Smith looked like she was feeling ill on stage.
